Club Structure and Funding Hub to Unlock Millions in Hidden Funding for UK Grassroots Sport

SPORTA today announced the launch of its Club Structure & Funding Hub, a pioneering service designed to help grassroots sports clubs and charities unlock vital funding streams and build stronger, future-proof foundations.

Every year, more than £500 million in Gift Aid goes unclaimed across the UK. For Community Amateur Sports Clubs (CASCs) and charities, this represents a transformative opportunity, yet too many organisations miss out due to gaps in governance, constitutions, or financial processes.

The SPORTA Club Structure & Funding Hub addresses this challenge head-on, helping clubs:

  • Get set up correctly — aligning governance and operations with CASC and charity best practice.
  • Unlock Gift Aid — turning volunteer expenses and qualifying donations into tax-efficient funding.
  • Build sustainable systems — ensuring every eligible claim is captured, year after year.

Two Key Funding Opportunities

  1. Volunteer Donation of Expenses — Everyday costs such as travel, equipment, or event expenses can be donated back by volunteers and boosted by 25% through Gift Aid.
  2. Gift Aid on Membership Fees (Charities only) — For qualifying charities, a portion of membership fees above the organisations core costs can qualify for Gift Aid, provided the member understands that this element is a voluntary donation.
With the right structure in place, clubs can generate £1,000+ in average monthly income, while also reclaiming backdated funding from previous years.

A Movement for Stronger Clubs

“Too many clubs are leaving tens of thousands of pounds unclaimed simply because their structures aren’t aligned with funding requirements,” said Neil Wood, grassroots funding specialist at SPORTA. “Our mission is to change that—helping clubs not only access Gift Aid but also build the governance and systems that ensure long-term sustainability.”

Neil Wood, who brings a background in UK Government policy and legislation, leads SPORTA’s specialist team. With deep experience in grassroots sport and community groups, he helps CASCs and charities unlock guaranteed funding through Gift Aid, volunteer expense donations, grants, and other income streams.

Who Benefits?

The Hub is open to registered CASCs and charities across the UK—whether football clubs, cricket teams, athletics groups, or any grassroots organisation. By combining structural alignment with funding expertise, SPORTA ensures clubs don’t just survive, but thrive.
